Jenn Shagrin was born in Youngstown, Ohio on June 2, 1985. When Jenn was four years old, her parents placed her in acting classes to release Jenn’s excess of pent up creative energy. After one class, she was hooked. Jenn spent the next eight years participating in over twenty theater productions at local and school theaters.
At the age of twelve, Jenn was brought out to Los Angeles by The Savage Agency for the 1997 pilot season. For the next few years, Jenn and her family would travel back and forth between Los Angeles and Ohio for auditions, acting jobs and stand-up comedy shows. In 1999, she was given the opportunity to co-write and star in a kids talk show/sketch comedy pilot presented to Nickelodeon and Disney.
Jenn returned to Ohio at the age of 14 to live a “normal life” and experience high school. Jenn graduated second in her class with a scholarship to study Journalism at Ohio University. Never one for convention, the American educational system was not Jenn’s cup of tea. After raising some hell on campus by founding the Extreme Smokers Club, Jenn decided it was time to make her mark in the world. She got in her car and headed west, and hasn’t really stopped moving since.
In the past two years, Jenn co-wrote, exec produced and starred in the short film Desperate Hippies, a stoner girl parody of the ABC show Desperate Housewives. She has also done several National commercials, guest-starred on FOX’s series The War at Home, the NBC daytime drama Passions and Chris Elliott’s 2006 pilot You’ve Reached the Elliott’s. Jenn’s upcoming projects include a recurring role on the entire 5th season of Reno 911!, a strong supporting role in the independent film Darkness Visible alongside Sean Young and M. Emmet Walsh, a guest star role on the new Cartoon Network series Out of Jimmy’s Head, and of course, the film Tru Loved.
Jenn also does stand-up comedy around Los Angeles when between filming jobs.
